As with any healthcare practice, it’s crucial for physicians to establish and maintain HIPAA-compliant procedures when collaborating with contractors or employees. At Medical Staff Relief, we prioritize data security. Our Virtual Assistants undergo HIPAA certification, and we conduct thorough background checks before bringing them on board. They are equipped with computer hardware and antivirus software that meet the required specifications. In addition, our clients have the option to have their individual Virtual Assistants sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) to ensure compliance. It’s important to note that our corporation does not access any client’s Protected Health Information (PHI), eliminating the need for us to sign a BAA. To grant your Virtual Assistant access to your EMR, you have two options: providing direct username and password access with limited system privileges, or setting up a dedicated computer in your office with access to your EMR, along with remote desktop software that your Virtual Assistant can use securely.
